چکیده

Sericulture is one of the non-timber forest products (NTFPs) that can help Indonesians live better lives and support environmental improvement. Silk, as a product sericulture, five NTFPs Indonesia has identified having ability to boost nation’s economy alleviate poverty. However, there are several issues with development silk in Indonesia, chiefly quality silkworm seedlings low cocoon yield. Crossbreeding method used egg output. This study aimed evaluate eggs cocoons produced by various (Bombyx mori L.) crosses. The Pustarhut Laboratory hosted research from May August 2022. Twelve treatments were employed form crosses using Randomized Block Design (RBD) method, each treatment applied three replicates. Overall, findings demonstrated CE cross ((919 x 927) (804 p208)) (652 eggs) higher than other crossings. although numbers CF × (p208 804)) FC ((p208 804) (919 927)) 622 631 eggs, respectively significantly different cross, they still above 600. In addition, was not cross. All finding indicates silkworms CE, CF, be an alternative superior breeding increase productivity rearing Indonesia. Keywords: Bombyx mori, quality, double-cross, seed

Screening Strains of the Mulberry Silkworm, Bombyx mori, for Thermotolerance

A tropical climate prevails in most of the sericultural areas in India, where temperature increases during the summer lead to adverse effects on temperate bivoltine silkworm rearing and cause crop losses. Screening for thermotolerance in the silkworm, Bombyxmori L. (Lepidoptera: Bombycidae) is an essential prerequisite for the development of thermotolerant breeds/hybrids. In the current study, ...

The L-Amino Acid Oxidase from Silkworm Eggs (Bombyx mori L.)

An enzyme which catalyzes the oxidation of L-amino acids has been isolated from silkworm eggs (Bombyx mori L.), and purified. The activity of the enzyme preparation is about 1584 times more than that of the crude preparation. Methods of purification of the enzyme are described in detail and certain physicochemical properties of the enzyme are also described.

Botanicals against Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus infecting three breeds of mulberry silkworm, Bombyx mori L

Mulberry silkworm, Bombyx mori L, most valued for silk and other medicinal products is prone to various biotic stresses among which the disease caused by Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus (BmNPV) is most serious as it occurs throughout the year causing losses to the tune of 30-40 per cent. Studies conducted on eco friendly management of the disease using botanicals revealed that 800 ppm hexane leaf ex...

Vertical transmission of nucleopolyhedrovirus in the silkworm, Bombyx mori L.

Nucleopolyhedrovirus (NPV) was tested for vertical transmission in the silkworm, Bombyx mori. Fifth instar larvae were exposed to four different dosages of BmNPV (830, 1300, 1800, and 2000OBs/larva) and a dosage of about 2000OBs/larva was found suitable for obtaining infected adults. Histopathological studies revealed the infection in susceptible tissues and organs initially, and at later stage...
